Food Processing Packaging

Custom food-contact bags, liners, tubing, and wicketed formats supported by documented quality and food-safety systems and specified for the processor’s actual use.

Understanding Food Processing Packaging

Food processors use poly packaging for ingredients, work in process, bulk containers, and finished goods. Each contact condition, temperature, chemistry, handling step, and audit requirement changes the specification. M Plastics can provide FDA-grade material options and current certification documentation for review.

From Our Factory Floor

How M Plastics Approaches Food Processing Packaging

Food processors need packaging that fits both the product and the audit trail. Since 2005, M Plastics has built its food-packaging work around controlled manufacturing, documented quality systems, and direct conversations with production teams. We can move from resin to film to finished bag in one facility, which gives customers a clear point of responsibility when a specification needs attention.

Common Food Processing Applications

  • Ingredients and work-in-process
  • Prepared and processed foods
  • Equipment, tote, and box liners
  • Retail and foodservice packaging

What We Need to Build the Right Package

Define food-contact requirements, product chemistry, temperature, filled weight, equipment interface, seal method, sanitation environment, traceability, and audit documents. We review the complete use before recommending material and construction.

Packaging Challenges to Resolve

  • Direct, indirect, and incidental contact uses may have different requirements.
  • Oils, acids, powders, moisture, and temperature affect material selection.
  • Liners must fit containers without bridging, tearing, or excess folds.
  • Audit documents, traceability, artwork, and change control must be defined early.

Construction and Feature Guidance

  • Lay-flat and gusseted bags cover many ingredient and finished-product formats.
  • Box, tote, drum, or combo-bin liners are sized to the actual container and closure.
  • Wicketed bags can support repetitive loading on compatible lines.
  • Perforation, venting, color, and print are specified only when the process needs them.

From Film Specification to the Packing Line

Material and mil thickness

Virgin LDPE or LLDPE options, additives, colorants, and inks are reviewed against the contact use. FDA-grade material status does not approve every food, temperature, or finished package.

Manual and Automated Packing

Supply equipment drawings, bag feed method, seal-jaw details, product temperature, sanitation exposure, line speed, and changeover needs. Manual operations should document handling and closure just as carefully.

Testing and Limitations

The processor must qualify the bag with its product, process, sanitation, storage, and distribution. Current certificates and declarations should be reviewed for scope rather than assumed from a web-page badge.

A material declaration or FDA-grade resin does not approve a finished package for every product or process. The customer remains responsible for application-specific regulatory review and validation.

Food Processing Packaging FAQ

Practical answers from a manufacturer. Final specifications are confirmed for your product, equipment, and use conditions.

What food-safety certifications does M Plastics hold?

M Plastics lists ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, AIB auditing, and FDA-grade virgin material options. Contact us for current certificates and scope.

Can you provide lot traceability?

Our controlled production process supports traceability. State your documentation and record requirements during quoting so they can be included in the specification.

Can you match bags to processing equipment?

Yes. Equipment dimensions, feeding method, seal jaws, line speed, and samples help us develop a compatible bag.

How should we approve the final food processing bag?

Review a production-representative sample with the actual product, packing method, closure, storage, and distribution conditions. Approval criteria should be documented before the full run.

What should we send with a quote request?

Define food-contact requirements, product chemistry, temperature, filled weight, equipment interface, seal method, sanitation environment, traceability, and audit documents. We review the complete use before recommending material and construction.
